Girls of the Golden West

February 29, 2024

Girls of the Golden West should be lightly reinforced using a high-quality sound system having equal full-frequency coverage to all seats in the house. Preferred sound systems include Meyer, d&b, L-Acoustics.

  • High-quality, full frequency, theatrical loudspeaker system is required. Typical configuration would include the possible speaker groups – Main PA Left/Right, Frontfills, Center Cluster, Ground Stacks, Subs, Under Balcony Fills, etc.
  • Yamaha and DigiCo audio consoles should be considered.
  • All principle singers must be reinforced using wireless body microphones (DPA elements recommended).
  • Chorus must be reinforced. Stage area microphones (and possibly roaming wireless lavaliers) should be used. If the chorus sings offstage, additional offstage microphones should be used.
  • Orchestra reinforcement should be subtle and tasteful. Depending on venue, spot microphones (and area mics for strings) should be used to help correct balances.

A high-quality outboard reverb (Lexicon or TC Electronics) should be considered to help smooth the overall reinforced cast, chorus and orchestra sound.
